I live in England, in the beautiful Surrey Hills and I originally started this blog to tell the story of my garden which underwent a transformation in 2011. It has rapidly become   more than that though.  It acts as a diary to remind me of the successes (and failures) along the way, and is a celebration of all things to do with the garden.   And it has led me down a wonderful path that I never envisaged when I first started blogging.  Through my passion for all things gardening,  my engagement with like minded people on Twitter and a desire to create something for me that not only brings joy and a sense of achievement but also gives me the means to build a business for myself, I have decided to join an ever increasing band of hardy entrepreneurs and try my hand as a  grower of British cut flowers.  Please see the page entitled ‘The Handpicked Flower Company’ to follow the story!

Meanwhile,  thanks for visiting.

  1. Isn’t it the most rewarding thing, creating a new garden? I’ve made two, in the last several years: one in sub-tropical Queensland, Australia, and the other here in Sri Lanka, where I’m living now. I’d love to catch up with your Surrey garden if I may?

  2. Who knows? I am thinking of a a move though … 🙂 Look forward to seeing more of each other.

  3. Good morning! You might have noticed, it’s Awards Season again, and I couldn’t not add your blog to my list of nominations for the Versatile Blogger Award. I won’t be upset if you can’t find the time to play, but if you can, pop over to check it out: https://thewanderlustgene.wordpress.com/2012/05/31/confessions-awards-and-the-atlas-game/

  4. Hi Sara, I hope you are well.

I have just looked onto your website and read about how it all began. It’s such a great story and really does show that if you work hard you will eventually succeed! I have also just started my business this year, after thinking about it continuously since i was 16. I have finally made the decision to get on and do it! I have also decided to start growing a cutting garden. Currently i only have a very small plot but hope to expand and grow on my own field. I really wish you good luck for this year and the rest and would love to meet you one day and see your blooming flower garden!
Best of luck and lots of wishes
